Space Coast River Tours’ nature tours of Indian River Lagoon are guided and narrated by Captain Mark Anderson.
Mark’s passion for boating began during his childhood years in Santa Barbara California, where he enjoyed family trips to the Santa Barbara Marina. During his days around the boatyard, Mark’s interest in boats continued to grow and at age nine, Mark embarked on a memorable sailing tour of Lake Michigan, with the pleasant sound of waves hitting the hull and the wind blowing across the lake.
Mark moved to Spokane, Washington, but the memorable cruise along Lake Michigan stayed with him and cultivated new interest in Catamarans. Mark purchased his first CAT, an 18′ SOL CAT in 1984, and moved to Florida with the CAT. He sailed the CAT north and south along the Indian River Lagoon, from the Eau Gallie Causeway to Sebastian. Mark still owns the CAT, but devotes most of his focus to the Blue Dolphin, the official tourboat of Space Coast River Tours.
A Florida native, Michele Anderson was born in Coral Gables, (Near Miami) and raised near Paris, France. Like her husband, Mark, Michele’s obsession with water began at an early age. She taught herself to swim at three years old, and the first toy she remembers wanting to play with was her red motor boat. Michele took the motorboat with her on every family outing and always found her way to a lake or pond, to watch it run.
Michele’s passion for boating continued throughout her life. In 1989, when she settled down in Brevard County, Michelle purchased her first boat, a 21′ Dixie named, Ma Belle.
11 years later, Michelle went to visit friends in Montauk, NY, when she got the idea for Space Coast River Tours. You can read more about how Michelle turned her dream into a reality, on the profile page of the Blue Dolphin.
