Anhinga
One of the most common questions during a Space Coast River Tour is, “What’s that head sticking out of the water?” The Anhinga, also known as the Snake Bird, submerges underwater to fish for prey. If you bring your camera on our tour, you’ll probably get a great photo op if we happen to pass an Anhinga sunning itself in a tree. When it’s perched, the Anhinga stretches out its wings for long periods of time.
The Anhinga stays in Brevard County Year-round, but it’s also found in other southern states, as well as the Carribean and South America.
